SUSPENSION OF NURTW ACTIVITIES ON LAGOS ISLAND

ONE MURDER TOO MANY








             Governor Akinwunmi Ambode has suspended NURTW activities on Lagos Island, this is consequent upon killing of Ganiu a.k.a Piero.The late Gani was a loyalist of Kunle Poly who is one of the influential member of the union.


          It has been very difficult for government to curtail activities of these union member, late last year, a member of the union was assassinated during LG eleection in Oshodi-Isolo local government.

         I would have expected  government to ban the union out rightly or restructure the union.

Collapse Building on the Island.

  I t is painful that we do not  learn from our mist ak es, incidence of building collapse has been on the increase. The unfortunate incidence of collapse building on the Island which claimed lives of so many children call for urgent attention. Government agencies in charge of building needs to wake up from slumber and do the needful.  Weak structures in the metropolis poses grave danger to the inhabitants and drastic steps needs to be taken to avert potential danger. Agencies of government that have the oversight functions to ensure strict compliance to building processes and techniques should be purged and bad eggs among the personnel should be shown the way out.
