Customs intercepts 661 rifles in Lagos


Should I give kudos to gallant custom officers that intercepted 49 boxes containing 661 pump action rifles illegally imported from China.What are the guns meant for? to hunt game or  what.It is likely politicians are stockpiling weapons for 2019 election, you may say it is still far,I do not  think so.

Three people have been arrested and so what, is this the first time we have people arrested over illegal importations.The importers of these ammunitions are the  real enemies of this country.They are sacred cows, their names will not be mention let alone getting them arrested.Those people arrested are not the real culprit and I am  very sure they will soon be released.

How did they source for forex to purchase the riffles, the riffles was purchased with dollars not naira. Factories are closing down  due to unavailability of forex, yet some ignoramus could access forex for purchase of deadly weapons.

  I t is painful that we do not  learn from our mist ak es, incidence of building collapse has been on the increase. The unfortunate incidence of collapse building on the Island which claimed lives of so many children call for urgent attention. Government agencies in charge of building needs to wake up from slumber and do the needful.  Weak structures in the metropolis poses grave danger to the inhabitants and drastic steps needs to be taken to avert potential danger. Agencies of government that have the oversight functions to ensure strict compliance to building processes and techniques should be purged and bad eggs among the personnel should be shown the way out.
