Zebra crossing and driver recklessness

Zebra crossing is define as an area of road painted with broad white stripes, where vehicles must stop if pedestrians wish to cross.I practically assisted a pupil trying to cross the road on a particular day due to
high vehicular movement.
The question begging for answer is this, does an average car owner understand what zebra crossing is? Do we even have a portioned of any road designated as zebra crossing ?.It is disturbing seeing children dashing across
the road and vehicles owner drive recklessly and not taking into cognizance safety of road users especially children.

Federal Road Safety Corps has the responsibility to enforced safety of road users, they should educate motorist about zebra crossing and if there is none, they should think of constructing zebra crossing  and ensure enforcement.
