Governors to sign death warrant

To reduce nagging problem of prison congestion, National Economic council has nudged the governors to sign death warrant of condemned prisoners on death row.

The prisons are congested and there is an urgent need to depopulate the number of inmates.Death penalty is still in Nigeria constitution, governors has the power to commute death sentence to life in imprisonment .
It is not likely any of our governor will yield to this call from NEC, they are core politicians and signing a death warrant will not increase their internally generated revenue.
